Women are frequently portrayed as weak and powerless. Gender stereotypes
that distinguish between men and women based on their perceived masculinity and
femininity are responsible for this. This research aims to examine female
masculinity as portrayed by Charlie's Angels' main female character named, Jane
Kano. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze scenes and
dialogue in the movie that portray female masculinity. This research presents a
portrayal of female masculinity in the movie based on Judith Halberstam's theory
of female masculinity. This research found that the form of female masculinity that
Jane Kano most often shows is Male Mimicry, it is a form of masculinity that
imitates male behavior and can be achieved through training. This masculinity is
often shown by Jane so that she is not underestimated in her male-dominated work
environment. The results of this research indicate that Jane Kano's female
masculinity makes her a competent leader for her team and a reliable person in her
work. Through her appearance and behavior, Jane reflects the potential of women
to take on roles that are usually dominated by men without losing their feminine
essence. This movie presents female masculinity as a way for women to show the
traits and behavior that women are no longer considered inferior but also have
power in a patriarchal culture.
